Meet Michelle

I am a multi-talented crafter and quilter and am a member of the Juan de Fuca Arts & Craft Guild.

My History

I grew up with kidney disease which meant that I was restricted in what I was able to do. Crafts were an ideal outlet, providing me with something constructive to do that was not physically exhausting. I found that I was good at sewing and other crafts, although knitting proved to be difficult because the strength in my left arm was hampered by the years on dialysis.

My Current Interests

Plastic Canvas

I find that plastic canvas is very easy to work with and very portable so I can take it with me when I'm out. I particularly like working with Victorian tissue houses in a variety of patterns, making each one unique with colours variations and added touches like flower boxes or greenery on the sides.

Quilting

I enjoy quilting, but don't have the room to store the fabric or to work with larger items, so I mostly do smaller projects. I've worked with a number of techniques including reverse appliqué and cathedral windows.
