Meet Michelle

I am a multi-talented crafter and quilter.

My History

I grew up with kidney disease which meant that I was restricted in what I was able to do.

I found that I was good at sewing and other crafts. Crafts were an ideal outlet, providing me with something constructive to do that was not physically exhausting.

Knitting proved to be too difficult until recently largely because the strength in my left arm was hampered by the years on hemodialysis. Using modified techniques, I'm now able to knit, too!

My Current Interests

Quilting

I enjoy quilting, but don't have the room to store the fabric or to work with larger items, so I mostly do smaller projects. I've worked with a number of techniques including reverse appliqué and cathedral windows.

My “Oriental Express” quilt (shown to the right) placed fourth place in the 2009 West Shore Quilt Show, judged in the advanced division.

God's Caring Bees

I began to work with other crafters (sewers, knitters and crocheters) in my church in a project to produce knitted/crocheted washcloths for Africa and items for those in need in our community. Learn more here….
